Western Australia (WA) part 1

my trip up the westcoast from perth to broome, april-may 2009.

18 Apr 2009, 5:05PM

the leaning tree, at the windiest point in australia, which is why it grew in such a weird way.. there were other leaning trees too, but this was the most extreme example.

18 Apr 2009, 3:04PM

The Pinnacles Desert. these things sticking out are naturally formed limestones, there are thousands of them in this area, just north of perth.

19 Apr 2009, 8:58AM

me abseiling in kalbarri national park. throwing yourself off the edge of a cliff is a great way to start the day ;)

19 Apr 2009, 8:35AM

big disgusting spider. its web is 5 times stronger than steel! our tour guide pulled at one of the web strings, but it didnt break, unbelievable!!

19 Apr 2009, 10:32AM

me in "nature's window"

19 Apr 2009, 10:27AM

hanging off a cliff - NOT!! ;)

19 Apr 2009, 3:32PM

the stromatolites in the shark bay world heritage region, earth's oldest living organisms.. they look like rocks, but their outer layer is alive and responsible for oxygen production (i think..) not all of them are underwater, but if the water is still, you can sometimes see airbubble being released from them.. a clear sign they actually are alive!

19 Apr 2009, 11:20AM

thorny devil, native australian desert animal, which is NOT venomous, wow! ;)

19 Apr 2009, 4:43PM

shell beach again and my foot ;)

19 Apr 2009, 4:36PM

shell beach. no sand, just shells!! on the whole stretch of the beach! looks amazing..

20 Apr 2009, 8:10AM

a dolphin at monkey mia, where the dolphins come up to the beach every day. they are also fed there, big tourist circus, but i got to feed one, was pretty cool!

19 Apr 2009, 6:02PM

me holding a joey (baby kangaroo) in denham. its mother was victim of roadkill, and the hostel owner was also an animal carer, so she took him in. have never seen anything cuter in my entire life!!!!!
