Atauro Island

Location: East Timor

the island can be seen from dili as it is only 25km away. however, there is a massive drop in the ocean floor which reaches to a depth of 3km. US subs travel through here to get from the Pacific to the Indian.

Taking the ferry to Atauro island. about 2 hours from Dili.

Mikrolets (mini vans) are the method of public transport around dili

dried squid

fish and rice. a deliciously tricky meal to eat.

our hut on the island. complete with solar panels

that's a coconut (and am i getting a hunchback walking with all these little people???)

having a laugh on the outrigger

the village people

after some dodgey sausages, both Graham and I spent two days taking it turns to sit on the toilet. until we found this...some chinese magic!

this fishing boat took us back to dili at 3am. Got us back home in time for work on monday morning.
