Texas

Location: USA

19 Nov 2008, 5:55AM

Big Mexican influence. Had to restrain Brendan from buying another quality guitar.

19 Nov 2008, 5:26AM

San Antonio river walk. Nice restaurants and bars. Not much else here.

20 Nov 2008, 6:00AM

Our motel was two hundred metres from the bus station in Austin. Apparently no one has ever walked it before.

19 Nov 2008, 3:50PM

Ribs and chicken wings. At this restaurant you could order a 'dolly parton' - two fried chicken breasts. Charming.

21 Nov 2008, 7:06AM

Texas state capitol.

21 Nov 2008, 6:53AM

Monument outside state capitol in Austin. If you can't read it, it is a monument to confederate soldiers who died to protect state rights guaranteed under constitution from northern coercion. Their words, not ours.

21 Nov 2008, 3:30PM

They spelt it wrong, but boot shop dedicated to Mr Mitchell!

21 Nov 2008, 9:01AM

LBJ's desk in the oval office replica at his library.

22 Nov 2008, 5:17AM

Ribs in a little town called Lockhardt (no verandahs, Ilka). Been there for decades, you roll up to the bbq pits, order your meat by the pound and they give it to you on sheets of butcher's paper. No cutlery available. Brilliant. (This is 11am)

22 Nov 2008, 4:55AM

Texas rolling hill country. Seriously.

22 Nov 2008, 5:53AM

We encountered some unusual traffic in Lockhardt. We initially thought it was funny until we saw someone else and realised there were no footpaths in town for her to go on.
