Alaska 2012 --- Jennifer, Dylan and Gwynne
We will be leaving for the Kenai Peninsula the end of May and returning to Texas the middle of September. You can come along on our journey as we go visit the caves, glaciers, mountains and streams...not to mention the bears, beavers and foxes, oh my! (by Gwynne)
Travels to Alaska started in 1983 when our father retired from civil service and celebrated by driving the Alcan Highway to the Last Frontier. In 1986, Daddy Bob and I trekked up for my initiation to this wilderness. Some of the Sonnen clan has returned to Alaska during 1994, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001 (Daddy Bob's last trip), 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2009. Gwynne and I have always wanted to spend a year there, but have never followed through. This year marks our final trip, where we will celebrate two milestone birthdays and come as close as we can to fulfilling our dream of that year-long committment by staying three months.
