The Beach House

Location: Port Republic, USA

Our little rental house by the bay and some shots of the kids' (and John's) new school.

Reading buddies...and yes, there is a school uniform. You have to like blue and white or you're in for a looonnng year!

John and Kirsten, Calverton's hard working third grade teaching team!

With 180 degree views of the Chesapeake Bay, this rental house presented as the perfect place to hang our hats. We actually own nothing now...which is a pretty nice feeling. John keeps tossing around the term, "Nomads" which none of the rest of us are really that wild about.

This is a familiar classroom scene for anyone who's a veteran of John's 4B classroom...why sit at desks when we can learn on our backs on the floor!!

Down 108 steps past the groundhog burrow and the place the turkey vultures hang out is our beach.

I don't care how cold it gets..."Kids, put on your parkas, with a view like this, we're eating on the porch tonight!"

A flurry of seaglass collecting and Timmy begging someone to play baseball...AJ and Loden, where are you??

Reputedly a treasure trove of fossils, we always find something on the beach...no actual fossils, but horseshoe crabs, dead fish, quartz, skipping rocks and driftwood.

Spanish IV, AP US History and AP English are keeping Chris focused on homework even when we're out for the weekend!

Who needs a bathing suit when you have little mermaid underwear and warm water beckoning you in??
