Goblin Forests & Glowworms

Location: North Island, New Zealand

We've arrived in New Zealand! Traveling down through the North Island from Auckland, we sample a country full of natural beauty (and short on petrol stations!)

Interesting...but as men are generally not as tidy in the lav as women, we get the short end of the stick, as it were, on this idea.

Maori carvings-intricate, beautiful, and frankly a little bit scary!

24 Feb 2007, 9:44AM

At home a roadside rest area might consist of a Burger King and a Cinnebon. Here it is the spectacular Marokopa Falls on the road heading west from the Waitomo glowworm caves.

Along the trail we spot a giant tree fern frond poised to open...one of New Zealand's most prominent symbols.

...and transferring it to the lemon squeeze just in the nick of time.

Jeff and Charlotte, our saviors, capturing every last drop of gas from the school lawn mower...

25 Feb 2007, 8:46AM

After traveling through the goblin forest, we reached Dawson's Falls at Mt. Taranaki...cold, clear water cascading down moss-covered cliffs. About all we could do was look up with our mouths hanging open and say, "Wow!"
