Planet Ranger Limited is committed to protecting your privacy.
This Planet Ranger Limited Privacy Statement applies to data collection
and
usage on the Planet Ranger Web site.
If you are using the Planet Ranger website for informational purposes,
such as viewing a Planet Ranger user’s web page or reading
our travel advice pages. Information about the operating system
you are using and your IP address as well as which pages on our
site you have visited will be collected by us.
If you decide to leave a message for someone using our services
via the “leave a message” form on their web page, we
will collect any information including your email address that
is entered to this form. We will also store your IP address. Please
read below to see how this information will be used.
If you sign up for a Planet Ranger First Class or Planet Ranger
Basic Account, information will be collected about you. This includes
your name, country of origin, email address and password. All information
that you subsequently upload to our web site as a part of our services
will be collected.
If you subscribe to our Planet Ranger First Class Account, you
will be required to pay for the service. Payments are accepted
via a third party company, PayPal, Incorporated, and as such we
do not store any of your credit card details on our system. We
do collect information from PayPal, Incorporated about payments
we have received from you. Which may include details about your
address and method of payment, but not your credit card details
or banking details.
Information about your operating system, browser and IP address
are used by us to help tailor our services to our audience and
to select appropriate advertising and promotional material. We
use your IP address to try and ascertain in which country you are
browsing. Information about the pages on our website that you have
visited is used to keep a record of how many visitors we receive
to each page. This information is not connected to any personal
details we may have stored.
If you elect to leave a message for someone using our services
via the “leave a message” form on their web page, the
information you entered on the form, including your email address
will be made available for the person or persons with access to
the account that maintains that page. Planet Ranger Limited is
not responsible and has no control over how that information will
be used subsequently and we recommend that you do not leave personal
details in such messages. Your IP address is not made available
to the account holder, however may be used by us in the event that
the message is threatening, offensive or criminal in some way.
Information entered when registering for a Planet Ranger First
Class or Planet Ranger Basic account will only be used to provide
our services to you. Planet Ranger Limited will pass your first
and last name as well as your country of origin to PayPal, Incorporated,
our third party payment provider in the event that you elect to
subscribe to a First Class Account. We will not share your personal
details with a third party for any other reason except in the event
that we are required to by law or in the event that you may be
in danger and the information you have provided may help appropriate
authorities in assisting you.
Any information uploaded to the Planet Ranger website that is specifically
meant for publishing on the internet – such as diary entries,
photos, messages and message replies should be considered publicly
available information and may also be used by Planet Ranger for
promotional purposes. The use of such information by third parties
visiting the Planet Ranger site is beyond the control of Planet
Ranger Limited.
If you use a Planet Ranger Basic or First Class account, Planet
Ranger Limited will from time to time send you emails regarding
your account, the status of the system, or informing you of new
features available to you. You will not be able to unsubscribe
to these mailings, as they are considered a part of the service
you have chosen.
At no time will Planet Ranger Limited forward any email address
it has been supplied via its website to third parties for the purposes
of advertising or promotion. Planet Ranger limited will only ever
reveal an email address to a third party if required to by law
or in situations where it may compromise your personal safety not
to do so.
If you wish to view or change personal information we hold on you,
you can do so by logging into your account and clicking on “Account
Preferences”. If you wish to have your information removed
from our systems, you need to send an email to remove@planetranger.com stating your Planet Ranger username. This will mean that your Planet
Ranger Account is deleted.
Planet Ranger Limitied is committed to protecting the security
of your personal information. We use a variety of security technologies
and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized
access, use, or disclosure.
The Planet Ranger web site uses "cookies" to help enhance
your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed
on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used
to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are
uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server
in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
